Hello! Thank you for visiting my site! This is a platform (along with my socials) where I can share information with you on women’s health and Early Life nutrition, and where you can book your online consultations with me. As you have probably noticed, by having a quick look around, I am passionate about helping mamas and mamas-to-be achieve the best possible health for themselves and for their babies by offering them evidenced-based nutrition and lifestyle advice and recommendations.
Nutrition is SO important during the "first 1180 days" of a baby’s life, known as Early Life Nutrition (ELN). This crucial “window of nutritional opportunity” starts 6 months before conception (when the baby is still an egg and a sperm!) and includes the 9 months of pregnancy up until the baby is 2 years old. This is a period where genes can be influenced, and future health outcomes optimized. ELN has been proven to influence the risk of certain conditions developing in childhood and later in life, including Obesity, Type 2 Diabetes, Heart Disease and Allergy.
Nutrition is also EXTREMELY effective in improving a couple’s chances of conceiving – both men and women have a role to play, not only in the future health of their baby, but also their likelihood of conception. It takes two to tango after all!
Nutrition during pregnancy is also paramount for preventing and treating severe pregnancy complications, such as pre-eclampsia and Gestational Diabetes, and minor side effects, such as morning sickness and constipation.
Nutrition after the birth of a child helps the mama recover faster and support her body and mind through the challenges of taking care of a newborn and breastfeeding, while at the same time preparing her for her next pregnancy if that is something she wants!
Following certain nutritional recommendations for conditions such as PCOS, endometriosis, ovulatory dysfunction or menstrual/hormonal issues can be a game changer for any woman suffering from such women's health issues!
During my own first pregnancy, I struggled with finding reliable and accurate, evidence-based nutrition information to support myself and my growing baby during this ever so demanding stage of our lives. I knew that the basic knowledge I had attained from the single pregnancy nutrition module I had covered at university, 11 years before, must surely be outdated. And I knew that if I, the nutrition expert, was finding it so difficult to separate fact from fiction, then how must all other pregnant women be feeling? I knew I had to do something about this and now it has become my mission to BE that reliable nutrition source for you – whether you are facing challenges in your fertility journey, you are pregnant, you have had your baby, or you are planning for another!
So, ditch Dr. Google and let me help you understand why nutrition is so important and bust all of those nutrition myths and reduce the overwhelm that you are feeling, by giving you practical solutions to help you enjoy this unique stage in your life!
